McDonald’s and RMHC boost students’ morale ahead of the 2020 school year

Good day dear readers and visitors of my blog. Sharing is caring, and I would like to share about an event that I recently attended, which was organised by McDonald's Malaysia. McDonald’s Malaysia and its charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia, launched the “Back-to-School” 2019 programme on 18 October 2019, marking the third year of the programme. This year,30,000 primary school children nationwide will receive “Back-to-School” packs to motivate and spur them to study hard when attending school.Through its ‘Scale for Good’ strategy where McDonald’s leverages the strength of its brand to create a positive impact on communities, societies, and the planet, RM3 million was successfully raised under this programme this year to ease the financial burdens of under privileged as well as urban poor families ahead of the upcoming school year.

Everyone has a busy lifestyle and parents are working, while children are studying in school. We need to balance our lifestyles to have some bonding time with our children. Have you ever thought about children who are less fortunate than ours?

“McDonald’s Malaysia believes that education is a crucial area that requires uncompromised attention. These children are the future of our nation, and we strongly believe that each of them deserves to be given the right opportunities to succeed. We understand that the cost of school expenses can be quite daunting for parents and guardians at the start of each school year. So we hope that this contribution, in its own way, will provide relief to alleviate any financial concern for families,” said Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia.

The “Back-to-School” programme this year will be the largest so far, with RM3 million raised. In 2018, McDonald’s Malaysia delivered “Back-to-School”packs worth RM1.7 million to 17,000 primary school students, compared to the previous year, which saw McDonald’s Malaysia and RMHC reaching out to 6,000 students with RM1.2 million raised. Each child will receive a “Back-to-School” pack, consisting of a set of school uniform, a pair of shoes, and a school bag worth RM100 under this programme. When going back to school, the important things for children are not just their school uniforms but also their shoes, socks and a school bag. The backpacks would help motivate the school children to start the 2020 school year with excitement. And, this would also make them happy and secure by having their own backpacks that they can use daily for school.

The Back-to-School programmeis one of the initiatives under the Ministry of Education’s collaboration programme with McDonald’s Malaysia in 2019.

Among McDonald's Malaysia’s partners who have contributed to the initiative include Kerry Ingredients Sdn Bhd, Visa Worldwide Pte. Limited, Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Bhd, Aladdin Pacific(M) Sdn Bhd, Glades Guppy Packaging Malaysia Sdn Bhd, and Huhtamaki Foodservice Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Deputy Education Minister YB Teo Nie Ching was also present at the event as the guest of honour to distribute Back-to-Schoolpacks at Sekolah Kebangsaan Klang Gate for the launched.

“The Ministry of Education is very pleased with the initiative undertaken by McDonald's Malaysia and RMHC Malaysia. In fact, this is in line with the Ministry's commitment to provide quality education to all students, which also includes providing necessities and school supplies,”said Deputy Education Minister YB Teo Nie Ching.

Indeed, poverty and financial hardship are among the issues that lead to student dropouts in primary and secondary schools. The implementation of theBack-to-School programme by a private entity such as McDonald’s Malaysia is not only an added value, but is also an example of a public-private partnership which the Ministry encourages for the benefit of the community. It is also my hope that the programme will boost the confidence of these children to go to school,”added YB Teo Nie Ching.

As now you know this programme is a collaborative effort between McDonald's Malaysia, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia and the Ministry of Education Malaysia. It is targeted for the underprivileged and urban poor primary school children in Malaysia, to motivate them and to start the 2020 school year on a high note.

The “Back-to-School” packs will also be distributed in stages throughout other states nationwide until the end of the year,as part of McDonald’s Malaysia’s Community Program that encompasses various community initiatives to support under privileged children. All of these efforts by McDonald’s is to really bring cheer to the children in need across Malaysia.

RMHC is McDonald’s Malaysia’s charity of choice that aims to help underprivileged children in Malaysia. We can give a helping hand by donating to RHMC donation boxes, as every centcounts. Members of the public and McDonald’s customers can also play their part in this ongoing initiative by dropping their donation into the RMHC donation boxes at all McDonald’s restaurants nationwide.

Come 2020, more than 53,000 primary school children would have benefited from McDonald's Malaysia and RMHC's 'Back-to-School' programme!

Sharing is caring, and I urge all of you to be a part of this by donating or volunteering for RMHC Malaysia. Please contact the headquarters of RMHC Malaysia at 03-7843 3388 or visit  https://rmhc-malaysia.my/get-involved/make-a-donation/  to make an impact on a child’s life.

Thank you,McDonald's Malaysia for inviting me!I'm happy to have witnessed the happy faces of the children with their 'Back-to-School' backpacks. It's really good to see McDonald's Malaysia’s continuous commitment in giving back to the community within which it operates in.

Coala Gibb Spine- Care Bag

Being mom of two boys, I am always on the go because of my sons. I am also a concern parent about my kids's education especially the school bags that they are using. We need to find suitable backpack for children as this bag is suitable for them because it is ergonomically designed for child's back comfort. Being parents we not just concern of their education but health too, I am glad my sons are happy with the bag of Coala Gibb Spine - Care Bag. The bag is made in Hong Kong, it used material Oxford Textile and waterproof material.

How often do we find that bag that has name card with it? This bag has got a name card that we can slot in the bag for the child's name, class and school. My little one who is going to be Standard One next year has just started using this bag, as you can see below photo of his books, pencil box, color pencil box, tumbler and breakfast box. Yeah the compartment of the zip outside bag can fit the breakfast box.

nicely fit in books and exercise books, pencil box and color pencil box and breakfast box in bag.
Besides that, if you didn't want to put the breakfast box you can put in tissues inside. It has a cute Coala's logo on the bag shoulder.
Are you a parent like me that would check on children's bag on whether they still have enough tissues in the bag or not. As I know son's school didn't have tissue provide in the restroom. There's another compartment on bag that we can place wet tissues inside. You view the video above to see.
With top compartments you can see on the above photo, it has two zippers. It is convenient and easy to use, easy to zip the bag. There's guarantee on this zipper which the seller will check on the condition of the bag.
Write your child's name, class and school's name on the card for the bag. This is important as there was time that my son told me that it happened in school someone using the same bag and they have mistook it home and they have no idea whose bag it belong too though there's name on the book.
The bag used material Oxford Textile, and waterproof material. Safety buckle keeps the bag intact. The back of the bag has got the ergonomically designed for child's back and my son says he doesn't feel sweaty or hot when using the bag.
Tumbler can easily place at side of the bag, there's another one pocket on the other side of the bag.
The spacious compartments in the bag, which allow you to neatly organize the books and stationery.
Below picture is where my Standard 5 son used for his school, it consists of 30 exercise books and other text books and files.

The bag is not like other normal bags that I have bought for my son. This bag has ergonomically designed for child's back comfort and my son feels the difference after using the bag. He says it's light and suitable for him to use for daily schooling. Even his brother is using it at Kindergarten.
The bag is 40cm x 16cm x 30cm, it maybe difference by 1cm due to handmade. Now you can check out their website for the purchase of this bag if you have interest to shop for child's bag.
