Grand Finale of Jom Airfry Dan Menang Cooking Competition

Philips Airfryer

Last year I attended the Low Fat Cooking Competition, you can click on the link to view it. Being mommy of two boys I know the important of eating healthy, I am happy that I am able to see this year competition. This year the Jom Airfry dan Menang competition was organised in support of the World Heart Federation’s annual World Heart Day celebration, which aims to increase awareness on cardiovascular diseases (CVD). In line with the World Heart Federation’s ‘Power Your Life’ campaign, Philips aims to encourage people to take personal responsibility for leading heart-healthy lives, starting by eating healthy. For the competition, participants in teams of two were required to submit low-fat recipes of heart-friendly meals made using an airfryer to be eligible. The finalist teams were then selected based on the healthfulness and presentation of their recipes, the creative usage of the airfryer as well as the amateur chefs’ own personal story using the airfryer.

The five finalist teams of the Jom Airfry dan Menang cooking competition, carefully selected from the numerous entries received, took to the big stage today for the grand finale cook-off at Tropicana City Mall. The Jom Airfry dan Menang competition was organised by Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) and Philips Malaysia as part of their continued partnership for the FATCHECK For A Healthy Heart programme. In the grand finale organised in partnership with AEON BiG, the five pairs of airfrying enthusiasts battled it out to win prizes totalling over RM35,000.

The teams were able to apply their knowledge from the masterclass in the grand finale showdown today.

To add to the challenge faced by the finalists, the grand finale cook-off featured a mystery box which held a secret ingredient that had to be included in the final dish. In one hour, participants had to whip up a two-course meal for two consisting of a low-fat nutritious main course and a dessert using the Philips Airfryer.

Selamat Hari Raya from My Mom's Best

Last week, Raya week have you go anywhere? We didn't go anywhere but stay back in Selangor. My dear has to work on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. So we didn't go back his home town, but we have a dinner family time with my parents and sibling at Cheras. Haven't wish my Muslim readers and friends Selamat Hari Raya.

If you have notice my blog url, it has changes from www.mymomsbest.us to www.mymumbest.com because I am not able to use the domain name of that anymore. It has brings me lots of memories in my blogging years. Special thanks to my blogger friend Leona for helping me with the domain. She's mommy of two boys just like me, feel free to visit her blog, she blogs of parenting, beauty and tech many more.

It's back to school and yesterday I have to drive 3 rounds to park near school to wait for son. Today even worst, I need to drive 6 rounds in to find a parking then I went to nearest bookstore to shop for son's history exercise book. He says it was missing not sure who took his book, last year it happened to him too and it took almost a month for the math book to show up again. But then I did bought the same book for him, else he would be punish by teacher.

Being mom of two boys, I have no transporter to fetch my sons. I fetch them, unless I have a media trip my dear would be helping me out during his lunch hours. My niece can helped if I am not able to fetch him but it depends too because when's she on college break and here, she can helped me out.

My son Standard 4 now and the exam is very tough. There's why he's attending the tuition at tuition centre. I didn't choose the tuition centre near the school as they only choose the children with good grades. Yeah they will check on the report cards and results of students before they accept them. They will inform you that if your child is slow you better not send there as they are learning fast. It's sad but this is true, as the admin lady of tuition centre told me and saying that if you want to let him tuition at the centre no problem but you have to risk it as he might not able to catch up. Not sure if he's going to go for tuition in school, for Standard 6 its compulsory to tuition in school.

Talking of education, his school uniform need to buy new pair soon as he's growing big. His white pair of shoes also need to change at least twice a year due to size. Now he's no longer using the trolley bag for school because the trolley bag's wheel broken or carrier is broken. He's using backpack and it's very heavy. Today many children are using trolley bags in school, I have seen Standard One children struggling to pull up their bag just a step away.

Parenting is we love and care want to give the best for our children. Always thinking what to cook for them, and for family too. Healthy meals are important for healthy body and mind.

No water for the 4th day at home

I haven't go Post Office to post out the prize for Feb Top Commentator. I'm still dealing with water crisis at home, no water for 4th day now. I checked water only available outside not inside home now.

We really need save water to use for washing, as for cooking it's depends what are you going to cook. As you know after cooking there will be lot of washing which need water.

Three days no washing clothes, today is the day to do it once and for all since there's water supply outside but low pressure.

Good exercise for us to carry water in and out of the house to carry daily chores.

It is black colour

My mom has been complaining she has passed motion and it is black in colour. I ask my bro and he asks whether she is taking any iron supplement. It can cause the past motion to be black colour. Indeed after check with my dad, he called the nursing home to check and she had iron supplement. So it is normal to have black colour.

The nursing home fee does not cover the necessary things that my mom needs such as tooth brush, tooth paste, biscuits, drinks and others. Sometimes the food is not tasty my mom will not eat them and she had instant noodle. I find out this from my dad and mom.

Talk about cooking I remember putting the wrong soy sauce into the vegetable. When my sister-in-law finds out about this she refused to eat the vegetable that I cooked. Lucky my darling still eat and I also eats even the taste is funny; hey I am learning to cook so bear with me.
