1600 Pandas World Tour in Malaysia

Yesterday morning I wake up early in the morning for a reason. I have a date with #1600PandasMY

The 1600 pandas, along with French artist Paulo Grangeon, the "Father of 1600 Pandas" arrived in Malaysia. Malaysia is the third stop of 1600 Pandas World Tour in the Asian region, after its journey in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Themed "Initiating the Culture of Creative Conservation", the adorable pandas will begin their nationwide journey to more than 15 iconic landmarks in Malaysia from yesterday until 25 January 2015.

Debuting in Dataran Merdeka, the 1600 Pandas were welcomed in a spectacular event filled with excitement and great anticipation.

Check out my instagram video for launch ceremony, click on the link. The momentous launch ceremony, which marks the beginning of the 1600 Pandas' trip across Malaysia, was graced by YB Dato' Mah Siew Keong, Minister in The Prime Minister's Department; Madam Ma Jia, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia and French sculptor artist and creator of the 1600 Pandas - Paulo Grangeon.

The tour is a creative artistic instrument in promoting a key message that conservation is a big concern in the world. This event also promote the message of environmental conservation. Tropical rainforests are an asset that requires careful governing and with 60% of Malaysia covered in greenery, this message should be amplified further within the local community.

The message of animal welfare and conservation is one that needs to be constantly communicated to the public, as we all need to work hand in hand to maintain a sustainable ecosystem.

The 1600 Pandas World Tour which started in 2008 as a collaboration between WWF and Paulo Grangeon, has since appeared in more than 100 exhibitions across various countries such as France, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Malaysia will be the 1600 Pandas' third stop after the Hong Kong in the Asia region.

Mark down this list of stopovers the 1600 Pandas will be making their appearance at :
  • Dataran Putrajaya
  • Batu Caves, Selangor
  • Taiping Lake, Perak
  • The Stadhuys (Red Square), Melaka
  • National Monument, Kuala Lumpur
  • Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, Penang
  • The Learning Tower of Teluk Intan, Perak

The grand finale of the 1600 Pandas World Tour in Malaysia will take place at Publika from 13 Jan to 25 Jan 2015.

Hiruscar® Kids, one of Malaysia’s first topical scar gel formulated for children, was recently
launched together with its ‘Play More’ campaign. This campaign is aimed at encouraging children to go outdoors and play more while equipping both parents and children with important safety tips to promote safe play. The Play More campaign featured the Hiruscar® Kids Play Safe, Play More
Mom Bloggers Forum and the Hiruscar® Kids Play Safe, Play More Holiday Workshop. I was there with my son, the event held at Explorer Outfitter, Publika.

A 2012 study involving 50 children aged between two to ten yeards old saw improvements on scars and dark marks of participants with Hiruscar® Kids. Senior Product Manager of Hiruscar, Desryne Heng said, “The study shows 98% of children aged between two to ten years old experienced an
improvement on various scars and dark marks caused by a fall, burn or insects bite within two weeks of usage and saw lighter, smoother, softer skin on the affected area.” She added that Hiruscar® Kids is a gel that has been clinically proven to be gentle yet effective, safe and non-allergenic. “It is nongreasy and has a fast absorption rate, ideal for parents of young children who worry that their children will ingest external creams. This gel also has a pleasant smell that children find
agreeable.”

Ning Baizura, local celebrity and mother to almost two-year-old Ryan Sky Dalton, was present to facilitate the mom bloggers’forum. She said: “Boys are naturally more active and rough,
and I worry all the time that my son would get hurt. With precaution, I can reduce the risk of injuries but I can never take it away 100%. I think it’s important for us as parents to find a balance of being cautious with allowing our kids to have fun and run around.”

The forum for the mom bloggers allowed the mothers to share some of the issues they faced in balancing a need to incorporate more play-time into their children’s daily activities and safety considerations. Another topic of discussion was the positive effect that playtime had on their children.

The "Play More" Workshop that children enjoy on the day though it was rainy day. It never stop them from having the play more workshop together.

The children were treated to games that they could play with their mothers
and a fun storytelling session with an adapted version of “Little
Red Riding Hood” and the challenges she faces by professional actor and storyteller Marina Tan,

Food Art Workshop by Lee Samantha

I attended the Food Art Workshop by Lee Samantha last Saturday. It was located at Marmalade Café, Lot 2 Level G3, Block C1, Publika Solaris, Kuala Lumpur

Being mommy of two boys, I know it's important that we have balance meal for ourselves and our children. Do you have hard time to give fruits to feed your child? I am happy to have attended the Food Art I learn so much from there. Thanks to Zespri Kiwifruit Malaysia, for this invitation.
It is my first time to go Marmalade Cafe, it's located not far from the 7-11 outlet, just need to walk all the way to the end.
Marmalade Cafe is at the end of office block.

Nice table setting with tools and many Zespri Kiwifruit.
We are put to groups to try out the food art ourselves, how exciting...
I can't believe I can do it, so can you but beware knife and sharp tools are not suitable for children.

Puan Nurul Aziah Musa a consultant Dietitian in private sector, she has 14 years of experience.
She explains to use about kiwifruit and digestive health.
A study found that out of the 27 most commonly eaten fruits, kiwifruit is the most nutrient dense.

Nutrient dense = Low in calories, high in nutrients.

Kiwifruit is one of the nature's perfect food.

Benefits of Kiwifruit for Digestive Health
Digestive Disorders?
-Constipation
- Indigestion
- Gastric Reflux
- Bloating
- Nausea
- Stomach ache
- Delayed gastric emptying

Do you know what is Actinidin?
An enzyme found in kiwifruit which breakdowns proteins and improves gastric digestion
- Reduces sensation of heaviness associated with protein rich foods
- Improves the absorption of proteins

Aunty Kiwi was there to explains to us too about Zespri Kiwifruit, she says that the kiwi are freshly pluck and if it falls on the ground, the worker will not use them.

Who doesn't like Vitamin C? Do you know that each serving of kiwifruit has nearly 2 1/2 times the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C. Vitamin C is proven to boost the immune system and fight the effects of the stress and aging.

Lee Samantha is there to teach us fun and amazing way to prepare meals for child. If you have followed her on instagram, you'll know her.

Lee Samantha explains to us that she usually sketches before making the food art.
It's amazing how she can gets the idea so quickly, she says that she saw a cat on the street, then she thinks of the cat as hungry for a fish.
How to make the empty plate looks more interesting? Using the kiwifruit, strawberry jam, bread, peanut butter jam or butter.

It's really up to you on how you like to put them together, look I have created this cute orange cat dreaming of a fish. Oh well... after holding the plate straight the fish becomes a bird.

Selfie time with Lee Samantha, check out my creation of food art using Zespri Kiwifruit.

They are two types of Zespri Kiwifruit, Green Kiwifruit and SunGold Kiwifruit.
The way to difference them is Zespri Green kiwifruit is hairy while SunGold Kiwifruit is not.
Zespri Green Kiwifruit - Love the Fibre Boost!
Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit - Delicious Juicy n Refreshing sweet

How to Ripen Zespri Green Kiwifruit?
Put in a bag with fruits such as apples or bananas
Fruit taste sweeter when slightly soft or ripe.
Store at room temperature for 2-5 days for better riipening.

It's simple and easy making food art, everyone can do it.
Now you know how to mix the healthy fruits on the place for your child to eat.
