Family Outing at Titi Eco Farm, Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan

It's a lazy Sunday, how's everyone doing? Yesterday we have a family outing to Titi Eco Farm, Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan. As early as 5.30 in the morning I woke up to prepare myself then asking my son to wake up.

We registered at Surian Tower as he journey starts from Surian Tower to Titi Eco Farm. There were 3 buses there, happy to see all the families that joined Wyeth Nutrition (S- MAMA Club). I bumped into of my friend Kathy that CNY time we join the CNY mob dance at Sunway Pyramid. Kathy and her toddler together join this family outing. For your info, Surian Tower parking fee is RM3 during weekend.

The journey from Surian Tower to Titi Eco Farm about 2 hours drive by bus.

At the arrival, we head to the canteen where Wyeth Nutrition's CRM Manager, Chan Wan Yee gives her welcome speech.

Look mom, my first time harvest corn.

Part of the itinerary of the day including of farm tour and harvest session.

Harvesting for the day would corns and sweet potatoes.

We also get the chance to feed the rabbits and goats, it's good to see parents and children have a great bonding time together. Sweet potato leaves are used to feed the rabbits and goats.

"I am not scare, I can slide down" says my son
Children also learns about washing the sweet potatoes they harvested at the farm.
We also have lunch in the canteen.
While children gets to play slides and other activities like bubbles.

Parents gather at the canteen for parenting workshop with Ruth Liew,
Child Developmentalist
Ruth Liew, Child Developmentalist
During the parenting workshop, many parents share about their thoughts and tips of caring their child.

3 Rules to Discipline
Every Parent must Remember
Be Fair
Be Consistent
Be Firm

The goal of discipline is SELF-Discipline

Discipline involves the following:
The whole child
Love and Respect
Communication

Discipline is NOT Punishment & Rewards
It is Guidance and Encouragement

Being the 'Good Enough' Parent
Remember that all parents make mistakes!
That is how we learn to be such AWESOME role-models

Rules, Limits and Offer Choices:
What do young children know about these?

"If I had my child to raise all over again, I'build self-esteem first, and the house later.
I'd finger-paint more, and point the finger less.
I would do less correcting and more connecting...

... I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch with my eyes.
I'd take more hikes and fly more kites.
I'd stop playing serious, and seriously play.
I would run through more fields and gaze at more stars.
I'do more hugging and less tugging."

-Diane Loomans, from If I Had My Child To Raise Over Again

Starting a computer class is a YES OR NO?

How's everyone feeling today? It's been raining all day long, son given a notice from school. There is no computer class in school so school PIBG plans to start computer classes.

There's no mention of how much fee a month that parents need to pay, the notice is like a survey form asking if parents want to have the primary school to get start the computer classes for Standard One to Standard Five. If parents are agree to it, parents will need to pay a fee for the computer class.

Just like that a survey of Yes or No to get start with computer class and if parents are willing to pay or not. Both in one questions, so you can only tick YES OR NO.

There's no other saying how long the computer class will held, or how much the fee payment.

I recall my school days that we spend not a long time in the computer class and 4 of us were sharing a computer to use. It was so long ago, different school different rules and regulations.

Anyway we'll have to wait and see the outcome of this maybe in September or October.

Tips For The Not So Green Thumbed

I you’re anything like me then you love spending time outdoors. Whether it is reading a book in the garden, pottering around the flowerbeds and getting dirt under your fingernails or simply taking a walk in the sunshine, I have to spend at least a little time outdoors. I was not blessed with a green thumb however so I’ve spent a fair amount of time online and along the way I’ve picked up a number of tips and tricks. The first thing I learned is that gardening is not a cheap hobby to get into, and if something’s gone wrong it can be expensive to fix. However with a little bit of research and patience you can find and use coupons that help you save on just about everything you need. You should be able to get whatever you need at Kohl's at a budget price if you use Kohl's coupon codes.

Use Clay Pots
Plastic pots are cheaper initially but the truth is plants prefer natural homes! And if you cover the outside of clay pots with a layer of latex paint or clear varnish, they’ll hold moisture for your plants and they’ll last much longer than plastic ones. And if that doesn’t seem like a good enough reason to use clay pots then maybe the fact that they keep roots cool and allow plants to breath better will.

Clay pots have multiple uses as well. If you flip them over and use them to cover up young plants that haven’t yet established their roots they act as great protectors against sudden overnight frosts and freezes. They can also be turned into hose guides that protect your plants when you’re dragging your hose along the bed. Just stab a length of reinforced steel into the corner of a bed, then slip the drain holes of two clay pots over the top, one upside down and one right way up. They can also be used as garden twine dispensers when the twine is placed underneath and fed through the drain holes.

Go Organic
Now this might sound a little ‘child of the earth’ and ‘eco warrior’ like to you but the truth is that natural remedies work better and cost far less than all those chemicals you can buy in stores. Spreading about a quarter inch of used coffee grounds and old tea leaves spread around the base of acid loving plants like raspberries, gardenias and rhododendrons once a month makes them happy and keeps them healthy.

Damping off fungus attacks suddenly and can be quite a problem with young seedlings, but placing chamomile tea leaves around the base once a week or misting them twice a day with some brewed tea will fix them right up. If you have roses then you’re familiar with aphids. Insecticidal soap will help get rid of them but so will a wide strip of tape.

Wrap the tape around your hand (or if you’re a bit squeamish like me then use a brush) and pat the leaves of infested plants, especially the undersides because that’s where they love to lurk. Better yet, if you are a smoker or know a smoker then soak used cigarette butts in water and spray your plants with the resulting liquid. I’m not sure if it’s the tar or the nicotine they don’t like but trust me – this works a charm!

PNKids, Gummies infused with Vitamins and Mineral

Few days ago I attended the PNKids Malaysia Grand Launching Ceremony which was held at Ground Floor, Centre Court, (in front of AEON 1 Utama Shopping Centre). Today is the last day of promo price and exciting activities for children available at the roadshow.

Being mommy of two boys, I know my children are active and playful. My 4 yrs old son would be the one with most energy to move around, that's why I need to always keep an eye on him. I am also always worry of my children's education, emotional and physical well-being.

Do you know that the food that we are consuming these days are loaded with trans-fats, bad oil, excessive sugar and salt? I got to admit that due to convenience, we tend to eat and feed our kids with the wrong and unhealthy foods. Food intolerance like gluten, dairy, and eggs. These children need calcium. Children who are on vegetarian diet, as they are lacking in iron.

For children who are having conditions like asthma or digestive problems especially if they are on medications, do check with their doctors first.

My sons are picky eaters, both of them dislike vegetables and they are lacking in iron. Some of my friends are having children that are not eating enough. Children who are eating too much fast foods, convenience foods and processed foods.

We need to introduce foods that are healthy to them, now there's a way to do so by providing them additional nutritional support that is infused with vitamins and minerals to them.
